This shifting colour palette gives the rosette a layered, painted appearance that changes with the seasons. Over time, the plant develops a branching habit, supporting multiple rosettes. Mature rosettes produce tall conical clusters of small yellow star-shaped flowers in late winter to spring, after which the flowering rosette naturally dies back, leaving offsets to continue growth.
